With a considerable jump, a Stoat or Ermine (Mustela erminea) lands from the paved agriculture track in dense vegetation of Blackberries (Rubus sp.) and Hops (Humulus sp.). Fifteen minutes later the stoat appears in the same place again. It comes back with an equally impressive jump; only this time with a big Rat – probably a Black Rat (Rattus rattus) – in his catch. A fatal neck bite kills even animals larger than itself. He runs along the paved path with the rat, belays briefly, looks up at the photographer and then disappears without much haste with his prey into thick, tall grass. A nice change from morning birding.
Bird-lens is, above all, a website designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality images of the birds of the Western Palearctic. But beautiful moments with other groups of animals – as in the case with mammals – do not go unused. In order to meet the demand for top images of rare bird species, Bird–Lens.com has not only visited the local area but also made targeted trips to distant places such as Africa or South America. All this to be able to take excellent photos of birds. The yield of images, not only of rare Western Palearctic birds, is very good. The beautiful picture of the blog is just a first impression, which you can find very soon behind the “Picture Shop” tab. Just leave a message if bird-lens.com can help with a picture.
